To My Husband On Our Anniversary

This is a photo of my husband Adam and me during our first dance on our wedding day three years ago today. I love this picture because I am completely and utterly relaxed in his arms. And I was. It’s one of the rare times when I am. In the past year, I’ve struggled a lot. Feeling like you’re losing your mind is hard. Being diagnosed and living with depression is hard. Suffering through anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder is hard. Brain disorders suck. But as much as it’s been hard for me, I mean really hard, I sometimes wonder if he had it worse. There were days when I know that he didn’t quite know how to handle what I was dealing with or how I was irrationally feeling. Taking me to the ER during a massive anxiety attack can’t have been easy. But he tried so hard. Oh how he tried. When…

Our Crazy Plan to Get a Free TV

So after renovating our basement (we’re finally almost done…) and mounting our 5 year old TV on the wall, we’ve noticed that our TV is kind of old.OK, it’s not really all that old, but in technology years, that’s ancient. It was considered really high tech when we bought it (and crazy, stupid expensive!).Sadly, it’s starting to show it’s age. There’s a line down the middle of the screen and some sort of weird fading at the bottom. It’s still watchable, but we’re realizing it’s time to start thinking about replacing it. To be honest, that kind of irks me. We paid entirely too much for that TV – right at a thousand bucks! Now we could get the same size TV in a better quality and for about half of what we paid back then. Ridiculous!Which leads me to our crazy plan. We’re going to get one for “free”. Yep,…

Time to Find a New Blog Reader

Hey y’all! You can think of today’s post as a public service announcement. In case you haven’t heard, in two weeks, Google is getting rid of their very popular Google Reader and Google Friend Connect. Y’all, I’m heartbroken. I love that reader. And I know a bunch of you do too! The extra sad thing is that if you use Google Reader/Google Friend Connect to follow my blog or your other favorite blogs, you won’t be able to as of July 1. All of your favorite blogs will still be alive and well, but you won’t see updates in a reader format! All is not lost, however! There are other options. Luckily, Sarah at Sarah SaturDIY shared alternatives to Google Reader/GFC and she explains it way better than I could have. You can catch her post HERE.Remember, if you want to continue to follow all of your favorite blogs, you’ll need to choose a new…

Project Life Giveaway

Here’s the thing guys. You know I love scrapbooking and you know my life is kind of crazy busy and sometimes, with the depression, my motivation to sit and do anything for a long period of time is just not there.Enter Becky Higgins and Project Life. It is quite literally the simplest scrapbooking I’ve ever done and it allows me to capture even the silly everyday things that I so often miss. It’s scrapping for busy people. It’s scrapping for people who don’t scrap. It. Is. Awesome. With one core kit, an album and a pen, you can scrap an entire year’s worth of pictures. That’s doing a layout each week. If you choose to do it monthly that’s five year’s worth. Yeah. Crazy good. So, what’s the best part? A couple of week’s ago, Project Life had it’s TV debut on HSN at an insane, crazy price and I bought an extra Blush…

Guest Bathroom Makeover Part 1: The Blah Beginning

Hey guys! If you follow me on Facebook you know that hubby and I have been hard at work renovating out basement mostly by ourselves (we’ve hired out for the flooring). Progress has been slow, but we’re finally making some headway and I thought I would take some time to share with you my main project, our guest bathroom.Aside from being very outdated and all white “blah”, it’s a nice size and still very functional. We opted not to go all out and demo it (for now anyway) and instead chose to update it on a budget because we are trying very hard not to finance anything in the basement remodel.Today let’s take a look at some “before” pictures and later this week I’ll update you with pictures of the progress I’ve made so far.The “business end” of the bathroom if you will. You can see it’s been a little lived in.…

Target and Michaels Scrapbooking Haul!

Hey y’all! It’s time for another edition of Saturday Scraps and it’s another haul post! As I mentioned earlier in the week, I left the house last Saturday and embarked on some retail therapy all by myself. It was lovely. I thought I’d share with you the fun stuff I found while I was out.First up, Michaels:These glittery photo corners were on clearance. I already had some of the silver ones and love them so I couldn’t pass this up!Still working on my albums from when I was teaching. I thought these diecuts would make fun embellishments. They go all the way through the alphabet. These were another clearance find. There are two adhesive lace frames in the package. So pretty! And now Target:I love my SMASH book and when I found these cute inkers in their scrapbooking section, I had to have them. There are three colors in each stick. They pull apart.Along…
