My husband and I love spending time on the weekends at one of the many local farmer’s markets in our area. We are lucky enough to live in a farming and agricultural area of the country where fresh, local produce is abundant in the summer and fall months. This weekend we took a twenty minute drive north to one we hadn’t been to before and I thought I’d share with you some of the variety you can find at a farmer’s market. Take a look:
Yummy jalapeno peppers. I would’ve bought them, but I already have a plant of them hanging on my balcony.

Fresh homemade pies! These things smelled delicious. I would’ve taken one home, but hubby doesn’t like cooked fruit and I knew I couldn’t shouldn’t eat a whole pie by myself. 😉

I loved the color on these pears!

Cheese from local dairy farms. In our area you can even still have your milk delivered in glass jars! Amazing!

These were so tempting. Might have to make another visit.

Here’s what we brought home. That jar is a jar of apple butter. One of my faves!
Most areas have local farmer’s markets. Take some time to visit one and support local farmers! But be careful…you might gain a pound or two. 😉

  1. I have a hard time sticking to my budget at the farmer’s market, especially summers. Good thing I only go twice a month. The great thing about my city is that there is a farmer’s market everyday of the week somewhere close. Last minute dinner party? No problem!
