Memorial Day BBQ Recipes

Y’all, I love a good barbecue. For real. It’s a good thing that I have a husband who loves to grill – like love, loves. And he’s really good at it. We’ll definitely be grilling on Monday, and I can almost bet you or someone you love will be grilling too! So why not get some yummy new recipes to try out, if not on Memorial Day, then throughout the summer.

Lucky for you I’ve pulled  together some amazing recipes from some amazing bloggers around the net that I’m eager to try and I know you will be too.

Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Pork Loin

Um, is there anything better than bacon? Yep! Bacon wrapped pork. Oh yeah! So I knew when I saw this Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Pork Loin from Miss Information it had to go on our “to make” list.

Barbeque Chicken Salad Sandwiches

Sometimes, I want the barbecue flavor without having to heat up the grill and these Buffalo Wild Wings inspired BBQ Chicken Salad Sandwiches from Read My Chicken Scratch are perfect! And seriously easy to make. I’ll be doing these on a Saturday afternoon lunch. Pickle on the side of course!

Cowboy burgers

Um, onion rings, cheese, beef? Yes, please! These Cowboy Burgers from The Picky Palate looked too amazing to pass up. And for those of you more veggie inclined – there’s a bonus recipe for zucchini kebabs included! My mouth is watering just looking at this one!

OK confession time. I’ve never tried sriracha. I know, I know – but it’s been on my “add to the pantry” list for awhile and I think I just found a fantastic reason to try it. I love skewer recipes because it’s really easy to stretch your protein budget that way and these Sriracha Glazed Chicken Skewers from Kitchen Meets Girl looked so savory and spicy and delicious!

Adam and I recently bought a cookbook entirely devoted to pizza on the grill, but I’ll be honest, I was a bit intimidated by making my own dough. (I’m not so good at it.) That was until I saw this crust recipe. The Grilled BBQ Chicken Pizza with 10 Minute Crust from Mom on Timeout seemed easy enough even for a dough amateur like me. I can’t wait to get my hands dirty!

While we love our meat and cheese, we never forget to include some amazing savory veggies. They are super simple to do on the grill and we love the flavor the grill imparts. These Balsamic Grilled Vegetables from Family Fresh Cooking look so good. If you’ve never tried grilling veggies, this is the recipe to start with.

Grilled Watermelon Salad

I have to admit that when we grill, we never really think of grilling fruit. Adam hates cooked fruit. Something about the texture, but when I showed him this Grilled Watermelon Salad from Do Small Things With Love, even he was interested. (A big win for this wife!) We both love watermelon and this is just something we’re going to have to try.

Moms Baked Beans

You can’t have a good barbecue without the baked beans right? Right. There’s just something so comforting and homey about a nice bowl of warm, savory sweet beans and these Mom’s Baked Beans from 365ish Days of Pinterest really fit that bill. They’ll be a great side dish for any of the other recipes in this round up.

tilapia with veggies in foil done

If you’re looking for something a little lighter, this Grilled Tilapia with Veggies from Eat at Home is a great choice. I love her recipes (and use them often!) because they are so simple and include ingredients that most people keep around the house which makes them really affordable too!

Yakitori
Yakitori via My Mom Made That

Remember how I said I love a good skewer/kebab recipe? Well I couldn’t resist including a second one. This recipe for Yakitori from My Mom Made That just looked too good not to include. And it helps me stretch my grocery budget too! I can afford a smaller amount of a better cut of meat if I’m going to cut it up and skewer it!

With all of the fun and food this weekend, please remember too why we celebrate. As good as all this food looks (and oh how good does it look?!?), the reason we have this three day weekend and unofficial start of summer, is to remember those who have served in the military and sacrificed to keep us free. Please take a moment and toast these men and women and their families for their service in our military forces. Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone!

  1. Thanks for including my admittedly “less than attractive” baked beans 🙂 Great round up for the summer!
