Hey y’all. Sorry for the late post. Life got in the way in the form of a rescheduled tutoring appointment and the winter storm warning that should bring 4 – 8 inches of snow our way over night and into tomorrow. So snow…in October…really? *sigh* I’m still such a Florida girl at heart. At least I have plenty of stuff to keep me busy this weekend. I’ll share about all of that on Monday. It’s a little CRA-ZAY.
Tonight though I wanted to wrap up my week of fest with a highlight of what I’ve done to deck out our apartment for Halloween and share an AWESOME giveaway with you. Let’s check out the decor first, shall we?
First up we have the requisite copy of It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown (For the hubs who absolutely adores Charlie Brown…I love that about him.) I won the adorable countdown blocks from Kristina at A Home Made by Kiki. They have made me so happy getting to change them each day!
Next up we have the chalkboard in our entryway. Since I have discovered the joys of chalk ink pens, I try to decorate the little chalkboard where we hang our keys with a fun saying for seasons and holidays.

Last year I found a cool tutorial to upcycle some wine bottles into Halloween decor in Woman’s Day magazine of all places (not typically on my magazine list). I may or may not have gone overboard with it, but we had a collection of empty wine bottles laying around (our complex doesn’t have recycling remember?) and I wanted to use them. These are ghosts that I just stuff a white pillar candle into in front of our fireplace.

I’ve had this “set” of Halloween ceramic tea kettle and jars for awhile. It’s not really a set. The tea pot came from JoAnn’s clearance rack one year and the small jars came from Dollar Tree a few years later. There are 4 smaller jars in total. Bat wings and skull soup anyone? 😉

I used my Cricut Happy Hauntings cartridge to create spooky sayings to stick to the hutch in our dining room. The little ghosts peeking out came from one of my favorite scrapbooking tools – my Kiwi Lane Tiny holiday embellishment set. They’re reusable templates rather than something you buy and use once. I just traced around the little ghost and cut off the part I didn’t need. I think they are so cute!

I got these tealight holders at Walmart a few years ago for a dollar each! The little tiny pumpkins (how cute are they?) came from Target’s dollar section this year. I bought both of the boxes I saw. 😉

Here are three more of my wine bottle creations. It was literally painters tape and some spray paint and a paint pen to add detail!

And NOW for the part you quickly scrolled to the bottom to see. 😉 The GIVEAWAY! When I first started blogging, Jane over at The Borrowed Abode introduced her readers to Katie, creator of In case you haven’t heard of it, is the place to find a journal and craft your story – whatever it might be. Katie creates awesome journals for just about everything. I have She 1.1, Become, and Taste (my most recent purchase)
I gave my husband Love Letter for our first anniversary. Each journal is filled (and I do mean filled) with pretty papers, fun embellishments like old school library cards, envelopes, stickers, and quirky vintage pictures.
I’ll tell you this – my husband isn’t the mushiest guy on the planet, but he loved Love Letter. We recently purchased the Taste journal to document our story in food. So often we find ourselves connecting to family and the past through the things we make and we are major foodies so it was perfect for us! I’ll even be sharing it with you guys here on the blog!
So…do you journal? Would you like to begin? Do you travel a lot? Are you a foodie too? Do you need a creative outlet that’s quick and fun for you or your kiddos (oh yeah, did I mention she does kids journals too!)? A Gadanke journal would be perfect, and I’m giving you the opportunity to win one journal of your choice on me as a thank you for being such awesome Scrappers!

  1. Love seeing your countdown blocks in action!! I also love the wine bottle decor. They were on my list this year, but I guess they will have to wait until next year. 🙁
I just recently came across Gadanke so I am excited about your giveaway. I love the kids journal…perfect for my 6 year old who LOVES writing right now. Great giveaway!

  2. Happy Blogiversary! I’m so excited to see that I introduced you to Katie’s journal shop. I freakin’ am obsessed with Gadanke journals. 🙂 I can gaurantee you several people are getting them for Christmas this year!

  3. Love the bottle art and the tiny pumpkins!

The She 1.1 journal looks fun. I would love to give one to my mom and maybe add a few prompts myself. My mom has so many incredible stories that need to be written down!

  4. I’m SO EXCITED about this giveaway!! I LOVE Gadanke and have two — She & Something Silly. I would *love* the Become journal to add to my collection or the second volume of She!

  5. Oh my I just checked out all her journals. It’s hard to choose my favorite, I think I’d start with “She: Me, My Life, My Days”. Such a clever idea!
