Quick Update

In case you missed it over on Facebook…Hubby and I were in a car accident this evening. We are fine, but a bit sore and shaken (not stirred!) and are going to take it easy for the rest of the night. I will finish up and post today’s 31 Days post early tomorrow and then have tomorrow’s regularly scheduled post tomorrow evening.Thank you for understanding.Christina

Craft Room (The Before)

One of my favorite things about buying this house is completely and totally selfish…I finally have a craft space all to myself. Oh yes. Y’all, I was giddy. Until we moved in and then it looked like this:From the InsideFrom the DoorwayYeah. And I’m not going to lie to you, it stayed like that for a long time and it’s still not done, but I’ve at least gotten some organization started.Oh and I have the best, most patient husband ever. He built my ikea Expedit shelf that I’ve been swooning over for years.Over the next few weeks, I’m going to show you more of what I’ve done to make the space mine all mine and super functional (and cute!).I’m just a tease, aren’t I?

Eyelet Storage

My new washer and dryer arrive today! Feels like Christmas.Anyway, I’m working on organizing my new craft space too, and it reminded me that I had taken some pictures of a mess in my craft area in the apartment long ago and never shared about it.I’m a scrapbooker (duh) and I love, love, love cute, tiny embellishments like brads and eyelets and therefore, have a ton. Here’s the only problem. The little containers they came in are horrible and every time I reach for one, this happens:Do you know how hard it is to clean up a thousand of these?Sooo…I decided that with a new space, I needed a new solution. Here’s what I found:Bead storage! ( I know someone out there is saying, “DUH!” right now… ) I love the deep wells and the top with built in grooves that fit down over the edges of each. No more spills! (And…

An Actual Text Conversation Between Me and My Best Friend

So, this happened yesterday:Me: I am not a fan of Nutella, but Jif Mocha Cappuccino Hazelnut Spread is good!Me: Also, is there some sort of stealth bomber yeast infection I don’t know about? Because all of these daytime commercials make it sound like one could strike at any moment. Her: HahahahahaHer: It’s the Monostat Mafia spreading propaganda!Me: Hahahaha I love you.Yep, we’re weird.(Sorry to all my male readers out there.)

Our New Kitchen – A Preview

I thought it might be fun to give you a little virtual tour of our new house in parts. Today I wanted to give you a quick glimpse into our new kitchen, but first, let’s look back at the apartment shall we?Remember the world’s tiniest kitchen? There was no way both of us could cook in here together. Not anymore!Ahhh…space. And look at all those cabinets and drawers! Not pictured? The “eat-in” space behind me and the pantry over my left shoulder and the massive deck (that now houses hubby’s grill – he’s ecstatic) and sliding glass door over my right. What about the pantry space of doom AKA The Black Hole:Nothing like reaching in blindly and grabbing a side for dinner. Let’s see what random stuff I can throw together tonight honey!I think this is a major upgrade, don’t you? ;)She’s just begging to be organized isn’t she?I’ll have more pictures of the…

Update on the Move and on Life

It’s been two months since I’ve blogged about anything. This is probably going to be pretty train of thought, so bear with me. We have been so fortunate to become home owners instead of renters but the move went horribly, horribly wrong. We unknowingly rented too small of a moving truck (Thanks so much Uhaul!), had to postpone the move a day because we bit off far more than we could chew (which was entirely my fault) and didn‘t have the packing done (after literally staying up day and night and sleeping in 2 to 4 hour shifts to try and get stuff done), and because of both we were not able to move everything on our “moving day” and had to make many, many car trips back and forth between the apartment and our new home and then ultimately spent $700 to hire movers to just get it done (I…

Quick Moving Update

Hey y’all. Sorry it’s kind of quiet around here. Hubby and I are pushing hard to get this move done, but we are painfully behind and it’s starting to wear on us big time. As I type this, it’s about one in the morning on Saturday and we’re scheduled to move in eleven hours. Right now, The Hubs is taking an hour or so (I’ll probably let him sleep a bit longer than that) nap while I continue to pack and then we’ll switch. I’m afraid if we both sleep we may not get it all done or we’ll sleep too long.Anyway, next week is filled with wonderful guest posts from several fabulous ladies with fantastic blogs, while I unpack boxes and clean…and clean…and clean. I cannot unsee the things I have seen in our new house. Let’s just leave it at that. Have a great weekend and I will…

My Memories Digital Scrapbooking Software GIVEAWAY!

Hey guys! I am so excited today! Do you know why? No, it’s not the fact that I’m moving in, um, four days (yikes!), it’s because I get to give one lucky reader the gift of memory keeping with My Memories Digital Scrapbooking! Anyone familiar with this blog knows I am a scrapbooking hoarder enthusiast. I’m kind of obsessed with paper crafting (and paper…). But I have a confession to make. For awhile now, I’ve been harboring the desire to betray my stash start digital scrapbooking, so I was insanely excited when Liz from My Memories contacted me about a product review. No really, if it hadn’t been incredibly late at night, I probably would have screamed. I settled for a “squee” on Facebook. Here’s proof:Told ya.Anyway, back to the matter at hand. I’m pretty passionate about my scrapbooking and I am always trying to encourage others to try it, but even…

Scrap Saturday: A Scrapbook for a Baby Boy

Happy National Scrapbooking Day! (It’s a holiday, did you know that?) To celebrate I thought I’d share some of my recent layouts. When our good friends Chris and Jeneane had their adorable baby boy last summer, I offered to make them a scrapbook/baby book. Something (I hoped) would be nicer than something you could buy in a store that was pre-made.Once she and baby boy got settled, she and I hit the craft stores to pick out an album, paper and embellishments she liked and I got to work.It took me forever y’all. Not because it was difficult, but because it was so intimidating! I didn’t want to screw it up. Well, I finally finished it back in March and just now got around to uploading some pictures I took of some of my favorite layouts. I thought y’all might want to see how it turned out. Here are my favorites:I mainly…

I want YOU!

…To share your best spaces, organizational genius, and creativity. That’s right folks, The Scrappy Housewife is now accepting reader submissions (no blog required) and guest posters! Here’s the deal: hubby and I are in the process of buying a house. Yes, really. (I’m in panic mode already.) And it is triple the size of our apartment. We close at the end of May which means an insanely short amount of time to pack and make all the necessary arrangements., so I’m kind of in over my head here. Which leads me to my first request:If you are a blogger and would like to help me out by guest posting I would be forever grateful. Projects on my end will be few and far between as I pack up our world and prepare to move to our new (project filled) home which I’ll be documenting in the coming months. I would love it then, if you…
