Last month, I outlined our crazy plan to get a free TV by using “free gift card with purchase” deals at Target. We’re still going strong!The last few weeks have been hit or miss on gift card deals, and true to our plan, we haven’t bought anything just to get a gift card. Which is why you haven’t seen any updates.BUT…I’m happy to announce we’ve hit $50 thanks to deals on shampoo and deodorant that we needed. Our full total as of 7/25/2013: $50.83That’s 10% of our total goal of $500.As long as our TV holds out we’re going for all $500, but we’re hoping for at least $250.Think we can do it? It’s one of the rare times when I am. In the past year, I’ve struggled a lot. Feeling like you’re losing your mind is hard. Being diagnosed and living with depression is hard. Suffering through anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder is hard. Brain disorders suck. But as much as it’s been hard for me, I mean really hard, I sometimes wonder if he had it worse. There were days when I know that he didn’t quite know how to handle what I was dealing with or how I was irrationally feeling. So after renovating our basement (we’re finally almost done…) and mounting our 5 year old TV on the wall, we’ve noticed that our TV is kind of old.OK, it’s not really all that old, but in technology years, that’s ancient. It was considered really high tech when we bought it (and crazy, stupid expensive!).Sadly, it’s starting to show it’s age. There’s a line down the middle of the screen and some sort of weird fading at the bottom. It’s still watchable, but we’re realizing it’s time to start thinking about replacing it. To be honest, that kind of irks me. We paid entirely too much for that TV – right at a thousand bucks! Y’all, I’m heartbroken. I love that reader. And I know a bunch of you do too! The extra sad thing is that if you use Google Reader/Google Friend Connect to follow my blog or your other favorite blogs, you won’t be able to as of July 1. All of your favorite blogs will still be alive and well, but you won’t see updates in a reader format!All is not lost, however! There are other options. Last week I posted a picture on Instagram of a gorgeous scarf I got on clearance for $4.50! While I was cleaning up this weekend, I discovered that the ring it came on fit my wrist perfectly as a bangle. I knew I had to try making it into one.I just grabbed the ring and some washi tape and began wrapping.And here’s the finished product.What do you think?
