Enough about that though, let’s get down to business.Y’all know I love an organized space right? Right. That’s no secret. And you know I love my binders. Like love. It’s kind of a sickness (an awesome sickness). Anywho, today’s shop speaks right to my very organizing soul. Our focus today is on Start Organizing, run by Nicole Lee. She’s a girl after my own heart, “I have a forgetful brain, so I like to have everything written down. That’s why I create printables.” Um, I can totally relate Nicole, really. Let’s check out what she offers.Yes, I know it’s Dec. 8th, but it’s not too late to plan! Really!Recipe binders make a fantastic family gift for Christmas. These days, I’m such a calendar/planner girl. And I…

Shop Small Business Week – Janery

Hey y’all! It’s time for today’s Shop Small Business Week post! Today’s shop? Janery. Janery is run by Jane of the blog The Borrowed Abode (hence the name) and if I’m totally honest, Jane is a good friend of mine and I also help her out on her blog from time to time. So, I haven’t been paid or compensated in any way for posting this – but I just wanted to put that out there to be completely up front. I just really like her stuff and I have included her items in my Small Biz round up every year – long before I began helping her out! One of the coolest things about Jane and her line of pillows, pet beds and accessory items is her focus on fair labor and ethical shopping. She does all she can to make sure even the materials she uses are produced under…

Shop Small Business Week – Old Town Suds

Hey y’all! Day 3 of Shop Small Business Week is here and today we’re taking a look at another fantastic handmade business – Old Town Suds, run by the fabulous Steffanie! Let me tell you, Steffanie is pretty passionate about her products – soap, laundry detergent, cleaning products and personal care items. She even offers classes on how to make your own soap at home! Here’s more about Steffanie straight from her site: “Old Town Suds began in 2011 out of the need to remove unneeded chemicals from everyday use. Steffanie, our Sudsologist, began experimenting with ways she could cut back on chemicals in her condo after a major health concern. One of the best recommendations from those around her was to be more cautious with the items she was using in her environment. Until that point, Steffanie never really considered how a bar of soap could be bad for someone or…

Shop Small Business Week – Milo and Ben

Last Saturday, I shared with you my Pinterest board that houses some of my favorite online handmade shops around the web. You can check out that post here and follow the board on Pinterest here. Here’s the thing about that post and this week full of small businesses. No one pays to get on this list. I take some time to grab links from my favorites and ask my readers to submit links to their online shops as well. I don’t get paid to do this. And I’m not compensated with free product either. So why bother? Because small businesses, and handmade businesses deserve a moment of our time. In this Wal-Mart world where everything is “made in China” and mass produced the little guy tends to get pushed to the background. Remember that when you shop local, shop small and shop handmade you are helping to put dinner on the table…

And all this coming week I’ll be sharing a more in depth look at each shop and giving you a peek into what I’m drooling over for Christmas. 😉 Someone point my hubs to this page would ya?Follow Christina @ The Scrappy Housewife Small Online Businesses I Adore on PinterestI want to add…

Cyber Monday (And why you should support small businesses…)

OK, I’m not going to lie to you. I was one of those crazy people out at midnight on Black Friday. (I will say though, we hit two stores and headed home. It was crazy.) I love to shop. Even on Black Friday. Now that you know I’m mildly crazy let me share something else.I would rather have something handmade or support small local businesses than go to Wal-mart. Nothing against them of course, I do shop there when necessary. But what I mean is, I like sourcing small businesses because generally, I know what I’m getting. I know the time and effort put in to make something. I know the ingredients. I can feel the passion of the creator in the item.Last Saturday was Small Business Saturday. I was out shopping with a friend for her wedding gown and was pleased when she found one at a local shop…
