Target and Michaels Scrapbooking Haul!

Hey y’all! It’s time for another edition of Saturday Scraps and it’s another haul post! As I mentioned earlier in the week, I left the house last Saturday and embarked on some retail therapy all by myself. It was lovely. I thought I’d share with you the fun stuff I found while I was out.First up, Michaels:These glittery photo corners were on clearance. I already had some of the silver ones and love them so I couldn’t pass this up!Still working on my albums from when I was teaching. I thought these diecuts would make fun embellishments. They go all the way through the alphabet. These were another clearance find. There are two adhesive lace frames in the package. So pretty! And now Target:I love my SMASH book and when I found these cute inkers in their scrapbooking section, I had to have them. There are three colors in each stick. They pull apart.Along…

One Chore, One Room Update

Hey guys! So, earlier this week I shared with you my new strategy of One Chore, One Room to help me conquer being overwhelmed. Basically, each day I tackle one major chore (like laundry as you’ll see) and dedicate time to really working on one room in the house. With the new house I’ve struggled a lot with getting it all done. In the apartment, I could easily clean up the entire space by blocking certain chores on certain days. With a house now about two and a half times the size of the apartment (and three floors) it’s not so simple so I’m really working to find a new routine that fits.Anywho, I thought you might like an update on my progress. Here are some before and after shots.Tuesday -Chore: LaundryRoom: Home OfficeWednesday – Chore: More Laundry (I was that behind)Room: Living Room/Dining RoomSo here are my thoughts on this process…

When Life Gets Overwhelming

Why yes, I *do* have to remind myself to take care of me. Sad, but true. I will put myself last on any list.Hey y’all. I’m working on a post to tell you every last detail about what the heck has been going on over here for the last month or so, but it’s taking some time. Let’s just say things have been crazy with a capital K and last week I reached my limit. What did I do? I handed the dog over to my husband along with a bottle of bleach spray (not for the dog) and I said I was outta here. I literally left the house Saturday morning, ran through Burger King for a large Diet and some Cinnabon and then went to Target and the Michaels. I felt guilty leaving my husband to deal with all of the craziness, but I was so completely overwhelmed I…

Quick Valentine’s Day Coupon Book

Hey guys! This week’s Saturday Scraps is a quick one. Last night I threw together a fast and easy Valentine’s Day coupon book for Adam. Take a look:All I did was grab a couple of small strips of pink and red paper from my scraps bin and used my Marvy tag punch to create the tags. I just embellished with a little washi tape and then hand stamped “Good for One” using a dollar set of alphabet stamps from Studio G (found at Michaels in the dollar bins). Then, as I relaxed and caught up on Parks and Rec, I came up with seven fun things I could do for hubby and filled them in. I just used some ribbon to tie them all together and I was done! I love easy scrap busting projects like this. What about you? What do you do with all of those scraps laying around the house? Linked up…

First Saturday – Fire and Ice

I’m sure that if I asked folks in a big city what the drawbacks are to living in a smaller town, they could give me quite a long list. I grew up in a big city. I never even considered leaving it! But then, well … love happened and here I am. 😉 Over time, I’ve grown to love this little city of mine and I thought I would begin to share with you some of the reasons why and give you an inside look at where I live. One of the best parts about our town is that we have an actual downtown area that has restaurants and shops. We don’t have high rises or gigantic municipal buildings (we have them, they’re just quite a bit smaller). We have a community spot where people shop in small, local businesses and eat in local (not chain) restaurants. It’s awesome. And all year…

One Little Word – My Word for 2013

I know I’m a bit behind on this, but I wanted to share with you that I am participating in Ali Edwards’ One Little Word Class over at Big Picture Classes. Here’s a look at January’s project (mostly finished):This year, I’ve chosen the word Create as my focus. I’ll be using the word create in twelve areas of focus (it’s supposed to be one a month, but I think I’ll let it happen as opportunities arise). Here they are: Create more “me” time.Create more “us” time.Create healthier meals.Create a better blog.Create a cozy home. Create a space to work in.Create connections (within our community, within the blogging community, etc.)Create a link to the past.Create better photographs.Create a better use of my time. Create a stronger relationship with God. (Not pictured.)Create ____________________. Not sure what this one is going to say yet. I’m still brainstorming. Each month or so (maybe more often, who knows!) I’ll check in with my progress on this…
