Top Secrets of Big Bloggers Graphic

I’ve begun sharing some of the things I’ve learned while working as a virtual assistant. This is the second in that series. You can find #1 here

Last year, I had the pleasure of attending Online Blog Con – a blogging convention entirely online. And as a bonus, I was assigned a mentor to help me address some of the things I struggle with as a blogger – like say, posting consistently. Especially when the depression/anxiety stuff kicks in.

My mentor Kayla from Say Not Sweet Anne suggested that whenever I could, I should split posts into more than one. Got a bathroom remodel? Give each step/part it’s own post. Want to share spring cleaning tips? Give each tip a starring role in a separate blog post.

It was a really eye opening thought for me, and I can say that as I’ve been working to be more consistent, it’s been helpful. It’s a case of work smarter, not harder. Efficiency.

This was only reinforced when I started looking at my client’s posting habits and link party submissions. Y’all, they get plenty of real estate out of one topic presented over several posts.

Multiple, concise posts on a subject are a lot easier to write than one long, rambling post with ALL THE THINGS.

It’s something I’m working on daily – like say, with this series. It really does help out with consistency a lot.

So thanks Kayla for hookin’ me up!

  1. This is so simple but not the way I think, so thank you for sharing it, Christina. It’s a simple and brilliant tip!

  2. I’ve started doing this more, as well. I always thought I was being lazy because I usually considered it when I was running out of content ideas. But it works! It’s easier to write posts with a single focus, it’s easier to read because the topic isn’t bouncing all over and it increases content and consistency, for me anyway. It also lowers your bounce rate because people have to click to other posts for the whole story. This is fantastic advice! Thanks for sharing, Christina!

  3. I am going to have to start doing this! Sometimes I have a brain freeze on what to post! Thanks for the advice! I can’t wait to read what tips you have next!

  6. Wow, I’m so glad I read this! I just recently did this very thing(A part 1 post and a part 2 post) out of necessity and I wondered if that was something I should have done. I’m glad it is not a blogging world “no-no” as I am very new to blogging and definitely don’t want to turn people off. Thank you for the great post and encouragement!
